Cinema Světozor, Prague (10. 9. 2009 - 31. 10. 2009) —
Zdenek Kaplan’s posters were influenced by the art deco morphology. Subtle ornaments, detailed drawings and domineering surreal elements make Kaplan’s style unique. Although he created only 30 posters in Czechoslovakia, he still belongs to the authors who are sought-after the most. Among his best posters we can count posters for film The Seven Year Itch, My Fair Lady, The Penguin, Live for Life .
Kino Máj, Litoměřice (25. 8. 2009 - 1. 10. 2009) —
Selection of twenty posters were in harmony with theme of festival: "French classic and noir inspiration across cinematography. Audience could see not only czechoslovakian but polish and german poster art as well.
Czech Centre Tokyo, Japan (13. 8. 2009 - 25. 9. 2009) —
A collection of 30 posters by Milan Grygar was introduced in Tokyo. Since the 80’s Milan Grygar has been one of the few Czech artists who have their admirers and fans as far as Japan. The exhibition was organized in cooperation with The Czech Centre in Tokyo and its director Mr Petr Holy.
Cinema Hvězda, Uherské Hradiště (24. 7. 2009 - 31. 8. 2009) —
At this year’s Summer Film School in Uherske Hradiste we introduced a selection of pieces of work by notable Polish graphic designers. We presented top works by Jan Lenica, Roman Cieszlewicz, Andrzej Klimowski and other Polish artists. Terry’s Socks collection of film posters includes about 500 types of Polish posters. More info here
