Posters – Nineties – Cult Movies

Foyer of Aero Cinema, Prague (16. 4. 2019 - 20. 6. 2019) —

This exhibition displayes 20 posters to the cult films of the 90’s.
These films were running around the screens of Czech cinemas during the 90’s, and who haven’t seen them, wasn’t anybody. Even on the screens of Aero cinema, just a while after its opening in 1998, these movies were whizzing all around. Often, one could tell only by how much was the floor flooded and soaked with beer, how hundreds of people were fascinated by these movies.

Japan Cinema in Czechoslovak Poster

Foyer of Bio Oko Cinema, Prague (1. 4. 2019 - 30. 6. 2019) —

Japan cinematography was, until 1989 (the year when the author and artistic poster were ceased for production), very rarely spotted in Czechoslovak cinemas. When we look back at that time, we can only guess the reason for that – most probable is the difficulty to gain authorship rights for exhibiton of the rich japanese cinematography, which was very much „encouraged“ by tough censorship. Many japanese films were too explicit, sexually opened and thematically, not suitable for socialist person. Despite this fact, tens of japanese films were bought for the czechoslovak cinemas during the 60’s and 70’s mainly.

Best of Terry posters

Foyer of Světozor Cinema, Prague (24. 1. 2019 - 30. 4. 2019) —

This special selection exhibition presents sixty posters from the Terry Posters poster collection.
After thirteen years of existence, the collection contains more than twenty thousand posters. Film posters, which were our only collecting interest at first, have been systematically joined by non-film posters (theater, exhibition, propaganda, music, tourist, sports, advertising) for several years now – nowadays, we keep more than 5000 of those. To the similar extent we also focused on foreign posters. First and foremost, we hold world-famous Polish posters but also German, Hungarian, Cuban, Soviet and other posters. There are already three thousand kinds of foreign posters in the Terry Posters collection.
