Jan Rajlich was born on June 10, 1950, in Vyškov, Moravia. He graduated in architecture at the University of Technology in Brno (studying there 1968–1974) and then, he was an interior architect at the State Project Institute of Commerce in Brno until 1980. During the years 1983 to 1989, he taught industrial and graphic design and its typography at the High School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Brno. Since 1987 he has been lecturing graphic design externally, and since 1994 internally at the University of Technology in Brno, where he also became the head of the Department of Industrial Design at the Institute of Construction, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (1996–2014). He was awarded a degree of a senior lecturer in Graphic Design at the University of Arts, Design and Architecture in Prague (1995).

Just as film posters were artistically exceptional, so were Czechoslovak theater posters in the second half of the twentieth century, shining on walls and in the theaters halls. Among the leading creators of theatrical posters were: Josef Flejšar, Jaroslav Sůra, Libor Fára and Milan Kopřiva.
Our collection includes more than 1000 sorts of theater posters sorted by the particular theaters.

KAREL VACA - 100

Bio Central, Hradec Králové (20. 5. 2020 - 20. 8. 2020) —

He belonged to the most significant Czechoslovak artist who designed the posters. Since 1958 he cooperated with the Central lending office of films in Prague, for which he created more than 300 posters before 1988. He was a long-term member of many poster committees and as an uncompromising defender of an artistic author poster he became the leading personality of the Czechoslovak poster school. He introduced many excellent artists to work on film posters and he gave a chance to succeed in this field to many young and talented artists as well. Together with his schoolmates, Milan Grygar, Zdeněk Ziegler and Karel Teissig he became the absolute top among artists who were designing film posters.

Kája Saudek (1935) is the most significant Czech comics artist, the founder of the typical „saudical“ comics school, and at the same time the one and only personage in domestic comics, who’s fame crossed the borders of Czech Republic (or earlier, Czechoslovakia).
