The Golden Era of Czechoslovak Film Poster XV. JIŘÍ HILMAR

Cinema Svetozor; Vodickova 41 - Praha 1 (3. 4. 2012 - 15. 6. 2012) —

15th exhibition of The Golden Era of Czechoslovak Film poster series is dedicated to work of artist Jiri Hilmar . Author, who emigrated to Germany in 1969. This exhibition will be very first one that introduce all 55 movie posters, which Jiri Hilmar created. He open the exhibition personally.

Jiri HILMAR belongs to significant authors of czechoslovak movie poster. His first poster for movie “The Bat squadron” was created in 1959, the last one – before he emigrated – was poster “In Incas empire” in 1968. He had created total 55 posters for UPF. His posters for Jean-Luc Godard movies, Crazy Pete and Breathless are very appreciated and has almost cult status. His posters: If a Thousand Clarinets, Pipes, Blood feud, Tokyo Olympiad and The treasure on silver lake belongs to the very best of czechoslovak movie poster art. Jiri Hilmar was awarded in 1962 for his movie poster works on International exhibition of movie poster in Karlovy Vary.
